Principles (a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning) are crucial for creating culture and society. I believe that each organization should have the following principle :

Purpose: Every action taken in an organization should be guided by purpose! The organization as a whole must have a clear and motivated purpose that states its value (financial or social). This purpose should be the gravity that pulls people together and work together for this purpose. Each group in an organization should have a clearly defined purpose within the organization and derived from the organization purpose. Every employee should know the purpose and value of his role within any group and the overall corporate entity.

Strong purpose manages to gravited people, and those people manage to reach their purpose with a very loosely organization ( the human rights revolution). Businesses that are missing a purpose, but have controlled and robust organization failed (ToysRus, sears and others). Don’t underestimate the importance and the forces of Purpose.
